Armani Prive Fall 2011 Geisha-Inspired Clothing Collection

The Armani Prive Autumn Winter 2011 2012 Haute Couture show wonderfully paid tribute to the people of Japan who were hit by the disastrous tsunami back in March this year.

So, right after a Resort 2012 line that drew on Imperial China, the Fall 2011 couture line Armani designed is an homage to Land of the Rising Sun. Although China represents an unprecedented investment opportunity (in other words, it is smart to market to it) Italian fashion designer’s connection to Japan is actually a deeper and a much more emotional one. As many of you know, he has been supporting a UNESCO scholarship program that has been helping kids who were harmed by the natural disaster. With Prive show, the designer actually wanted to show his support in a more personal way, and to acknowledge a creative debt which stretches back years, or at least to his well-known samurai-inspired line. The final result was an amazing symbiosis of country & man.

With Geisha-inspired patterns, origami-style folds & pleats in the clothing, this line’s Japanese influence is hard to deny, and is worth looking into. The models sported bold, bow-like hair accessories by Philip Treacy, who is a well-known hat designer. The headpieces highlighted the structured nature of Georgio Armani’s haute couture, which was as deliberate here as a black patent leather bodice and a world apart from the fluidity of his ready to wear. I believe that the Armani Prive Fall 2011 line will definitely instill in fans and fashionistas across this big beautiful planet a desire to incorporate Eastern-inspired clothing into their wardrobes.

Unprecedented act of humanity – a man at this stage in his life and career should be pushing forward into a place on Earth that is uncharted for him. Like the glowing evening sheath the path was illuminated by pieces, crusted with many tangerine bugle beads which helped close the show.
